Reading Comprehension

Something that I find very valuable in students reading comprehension is actually letting them read out loud so they could hear themselves.  If students come up with a word they do not understand while reading, all we have to do is explaining the meaning in a simple way they could understand. Sometimes we can also, include gestures and pictures.  This will let them acquire knowledge and the next time they find the word while reading they already know the meaning.  I also believe that when teachers let students read they could acquire fluency, understanding of words faster and could prevent them from having low self-esteem while reading.  On the other hand, if teachers always read to them, they are not going to feel motivated on doing so when the time comes.
